When you should ring straight away

• Smell of burning from a switchboard, plug or appliance
• Half the house has power, the other half doesn't
• Power out at the dairy shed during milking
• Commercial production line stopped and the fault isn't obvious
• RCD keeps tripping and won't reset
• Visible damage to wiring, a meter board or any cable
• Water has reached anything electrical

What to do before we arrive

If it's safe, isolate the affected circuit at the meter board (the labelled switch, not the mains). If it's not safe, leave it and ring. Don't touch damaged cables, don't touch a wet switchboard. Keep kids and animals clear of the area.

Areas we cover after hours

Te Awamutu, Kihikihi, Ohaupo, Pirongia — usually within the hour. Hamilton and surrounding Waikato — depends on where we are when the phone rings. We'll be honest about timing when you call.

What it costs

Call-out fee plus time on site. We charge what we'd want to be charged. No "premium after-hours rate triple" surprises — just an honest hourly that reflects we got out of bed.
